Dear Reading & North Reading Residents,

The Reading North Reading Chamber of Commerce is proud to serve our members and communities. We are pleased to provide this “Guide to Doing Business Locally” as a valuable resource for you. Before you spend your dollars out of town, please think of the wonderful businesses we have right here in Reading and North Reading.

Why buy at a locally owned Reading and North Reading business first? Buying local has a profound economic impact on our towns. In fact, more and more research strongly indicates that buying locally is literally the life’s blood of our communities – it keeps our communities alive.

When you buy locally you are investing in your community. Local businesses are typically owned by people who live here. If successful they are less likely to leave, which means they are invested in our towns’ futures. The money spent at local businesses is reinvested in our communities through taxes, job creation and charitable donations. This creates greater diversity and helps us maintain our unique appeal.

For every $100 spent locally, $68 stays in the local economy. Buying local is also environmentally friendly because it creates less traffic and pollution.

So “Buy Local” Reading and North Reading!

Keep Your Towns Alive to Thrive!

This is the message of a buy local campaign started by the Reading - North Reading Chamber of Commerce and our members to strengthen our local economies. Our members have embraced this campaign and are promoting the movement.

The Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce strives to accomplish many goals. We are an advocate and resource for local businesses, we are a community partner to both towns we serve, and we are focused on economic development. Most important is our strong commitment to supporting and promoting buying locally. This allows our businesses to thrive and proudly fund community traditions like the annual Holiday Lighting Festivals and honoring our Outstanding Citizens.
